After the hearing, he has issued a statement expressing his remorse. The 31-year-old was released on bail after being arrested by Cheshire Police on suspicion of the offence at around 2am on September 1. A spokesman for Cheshire Police later said: "A man has been charged with drink-driving following a vehicle stop in Wilmslow. "Wayne Rooney, aged 31, has since been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit."
