Nigerian News--- UTME 2017: JAMB begins sale of forms

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said, on Monday, that it would begin the sale of forms for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Monday 20th March,2017. The Board said the sale of forms will close on Wednesday 19th April, 2017 while examination holds 6th to 20th May, 2017. Nigerian State Governors, Senate President Saraki Pocketed Billions Of Naira From Paris Loan Refund

In one of the largest financial scandals in recent years, Nigeria's 36 state governors and Senate President Bukola Saraki pocketed large slices of funds approved by the Federal Government to reimburse states for the excessive deductions charged to them on account of the Paris Club and other international loans. In a statement, the Federal Ministry of Finance disclosed that President Buhari had urged the states to invest a minimum of 50 percent of the amount disbursed to them in people's welfare, especially for the payment of salaries and pensions. In order "to ensure compliance with the directive that a minimum of 50 percent of any amount disbursed is dedicated to this, funds will be credited to an auditable account from which payments to individual creditors will be made. Whistle-Blower: FederalGovernment recovers another $151m, N8bn loot

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, said actionable information given by whistle-blowers to the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation led to the recovery of the looted fund. He said the looted funds do not include the $9.2m in cash allegedly owned by a former Group Managing Director of the NNPC, also a dividend of the whistle-blower policy. "If there is a voluntary return of stolen or concealed public funds or assets on the account of the information provided, the whistle blower may be entitled to anywhere between 2.5 per cent (Minimum) and 5.0 per cent (Maximum) of the total amount recovered." And here one must acknowledge the clarification by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, to the effect that his principal’s primary mission to the UK is a vacation and that the medical checkup is a mere adjunct. He went on in his usual manner to denigrate Nigerians for trying to reverse the President’s scale of priority. Why should a President who desires to bestow a variegated economy on his country think of a holiday abroad? In his administration research into ways in which Nigerians “waste” billions of dollars on unproductive ventures annually, did it not encounter foreign travels for holidays? Doesn’t this administration understand how much could accrue as well as how much it could save from a thriving tourism industry? What better way exists for a President to encourage his people to holiday in-country than for him to lead by that example? After all, the late Umaru Yar’Adua once did that in 2009! Nigerian News: Fayose says Nigerians are tired of APC

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum, who is also the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, says Nigerians are tired of the ruling All Progressives Congress. The governor said if the PDP had a few committed people, it would readily oust the APC from power in 2019, adding that "anything that is built on deception cannot stand the test of time." The PDP Governors' Forum chairman said his party would not need a long slogan for the next election, saying all it needed to do was to remind Nigerians that "the ruling party has caused hunger."
